About: Rachel Gardner's mother and father did not have a happy marriage. Her parents never listened to her, and only ever shoved her and ordered her around. It's no wonder that she isn't exactly okay in the head herself. This showed itself most obviously in the ultimate fate of her parents: after her father brutally killed her mother, Rachel had to shoot her father in self-defense. But she wasn't done with that. She sewed them together, to "fix them up." To make them a family. Nobody bothered to tell her that's not how things work, after all.

Her parents' mutilated corpses were found some time later, and she was taken into protective custody, where she was interviewed by a psychiatrist named Danny. Danny, unfortunately, got a little too interested in her empty, dull eyes, and decided to take her to the SAW-esque complex that is the Angels of Death main plot's location. He wanted to install her as a resident of one of the floors, but when she found and latched on to a Bible, he set her up to go through the complex instead. She wandered around until she ran afoul of Zack on his floor and had to hide in a chest to keep from getting murdered. It worked and she managed to get to the floor above his.

Unfortunately, this lead to her running into Danny, who is also a psycho (though of a different type) and owned the floor above Zack's! Whoops! He proceeded to try and operate on her to keep her eyes, excuse me, "peepers" for himself. Zack, for whatever reason, got up to this floor in order to give Danny a good slicing. Unfortunately, as residents of each floor are forbidden to go to other floors, that meant Zack was also a rat in the murder maze now. Rachel found him, and they made a deal: she would help him escape, and in return, he'd kill her once they got out.

Rachel is, to put it bluntly, very messed up in the head. Her sanity is questionable at the best of times, and she's very quiet. No, not just quiet, dead inside. She genuinely seeks the end of her life, but she doesn't want to kill herself because it's "wrong." Not only that, but she made a promise, and it is everything to her. Of course, now that she's in Starhue, she can't exactly keep that promise... She'll probably be very lost and confused for a while.

Also, she's thirteen. Yeah. Angels of Death is one hell of a canon, ain't it?

As for why she would be here, obviously Zack threw her too far or one of the floors had a wormhole or something like that. She probably wouldn’t stay except for the bus schedule being wonky, and also because Zack is already here and will probably pick her up like so much late luggage.
